Jim Johnson, Sr.
Varsity Assistant Coach
|
| Coach Johnson started his baseball career when he was 7 years old in the
McLean Little League Program. He went on to play in the McLean Babe Ruth
and McLean High School Programs. While at McLean, he led the Region in
hitting his junior year and was highly recruited by Division I schools,
ultimately choosing to play at Brigham Young University. After his career
at BYU, he had the option to play professional baseball but chose a career
in engineering to support his family of 4. At that time the money was much
better in engineering. Unfortunately, the year after he quite playing
baseball, free agency became a part of major league baseball and salaries
skyrocketed. Since returning to the area, Coach Johnson has coached his 5
sons for over 25 years in the McLean Baseball Programs. He is now regarded
at the very best batting practice pitcher in the Metropolitan Area. |
