John Thomas
Varsity Head Coach

The 2008 season will be John Thomas’ third as head coach of the McLean High School baseball program where his teams have compiled an overall record of 26-14; a .650 winning percentage.  Prior to becoming head coach, Coach Thomas served as the Highlanders’ pitching coach for one year during the 2005 season.  During Coach Thomas’ tenure as head coach at McLean, the Highlanders have qualified for the Northern Region tournament every year and have seen three players go on to play college baseball.  The Highlanders also have an outstanding record of 15-3 at home under Coach Thomas.  A 1996 graduate of MHS, Coach Thomas was a three-time All-District and two-time All-Region player and also served as team captain twice for the Highlanders during his playing days.  Coach Thomas went on to play baseball at the University of Virginia and spent four years as a pitcher in the Cavaliers’ program before graduating with a degree in Psychology in 2000.   

Coach Thomas is a Special Education teacher at McLean High School and lives in Reston with his wife, Jana and their dog, Ace.
