Russell Pahl
JV Head Coach

Coach Pahl is returning in his second year to the Junior Varsity at McLean High School.  The 2010 season will be his fifth year in the Liberty District as a JV head coach.  His previous high school coaching experience was with the James Madison Warhawks from 2001-2003.


Russell began coaching in 1987 in the Vienna Little League.  He coached there for 15 straight seasons including leading Vienna American to a record 7 District IV Championships, 2 VA State runner-ups and the 2001 VA State Title where the team came within outs of the Southern Regional Finals in Petersburg, FL.  Russell was voted into the Vienna Little League Honor Roll in 1994.  He served in various capacities as a member of the board for 11 years, primarily as the Player Agent.
Russell was also been instrumental in the start of the first Northern Virginia (then Potomac Valley) Travel baseball program, the Vienna Mustangs.  Russell had continued to coach the Mustangs on and off since 1997.  His latest teams have competed at the USSSA Nationals in Tennessee (9th) in 2007 and in Myrtle Beach (7th) in 2008.  In the last two years alone, he has brought teams up and down the east coast, competing and winning dozens of USSA and AAU tournaments.

This year, Russell will additionally bringing his intensity and passion to a new program centered on players from McLean Little League.  He looks forward to working with these players with the McLean Hitmen organization.   
Coach Pahl is a Sr. Systems Engineer for SAIC in Tyson’s Corner.  He lives in Vienna with his wife Lynne and his three steps-sons, Jason (VMI), Taylor (NOVA) and Ryan (Madison HS).
