FIRST TEAM ALL-DISTRICT:

“Our program is very proud of the well-deserved recognition of these
seven young men”, McLean coach John Thomas said. “Each of these guys have
been big part of our season up to this point and they are all worthy of this
honor. David Roffman has done a great job for us behind the plate this
year. Chris Russo has been very steady overall at both the shortstop and
second base positions, and he has also contributed a great deal to our
offense. Erik Payne and Quinn Pippin are both enjoying excellent seasons,
and they are a huge part of what has been a very good infield for us this
year. Both of these guys have worked very hard and have improved a lot both
offensively and defensively. Riley Beiro has been terrific for us all the
way around and we think he’s one of the better leadoff hitters around.
Denis Buckley has stepped up in a big way for us on the mound this year, and
he’s beaten both of the top two seeds in our league, so that tells you the
job that he’s done for us. Finally, Sean has had a great year for us in a
lot of different areas, and he really kind of personifies the Utility role.
We’re very happy for all of these players.”
